About Us
Kids in Discovery Preschool is located in Discovery United Methodist Church
at the corner of Gayton Road and Lauderdale in Short Pump.

  • Kids in Discovery Preschool was established in the Fall of 1992.
  • We are licensed by the State of Virginia.
  • We offer 2-day, 3-day, 4-day, and 5-day classes.
  • Our classes meet from 9:00 a.m to noon.
  • All of our staff members are certified in CPR and First Aid, and all participate in continuing education.
  • We follow Henrico County Public Schools calendar.
  • We have an extended day program.  (Lunch Bunch - noon to 2:00 p.m.) 
  • We have an extensive library and a librarian who visits with our students each week.  Our Pre-K students check out library books every week.
  • We have weekly "Special Moments" in which our students hear God's Word and learn about His love for all of us.
  • We have a robust music program in which our students learn about music through movement, dancing, singing, and using manipulatives like rhythm sticks and beanbags, and through the playing of various musical instruments.
  • We have an amazing playground that our students LOVE!
